An erotic Victorian Novelette

Qahhar brings prized Barbs to the English countryside, planning to make his fortune in horse breeding before he takes revenge on the uncle who exiled him from Morocco. When he glimpses an accomplished rider on the neighboring estate, he’s intrigued.

Kiki has an affinity with animals—and the people who dress like them. Qahhar can’t convince her to leave her employers and work for him, but he tempts her in other ways, so she invites him to one of the estate’s notorious costume parties.

Kiki hopes roleplaying as a stallion will exorcise Qahhar’s anger and pain, but he abruptly leaves, leading her to worry he could never accept her and her unusual companions. Qahhar has a choice to make, though: fight for the life he lost or embrace the love he’s finding here…

EXCERPT

“I should have explained what I do here. Before…” Before she wanted more from him, but she already did.

Qahhar finished closing his trousers and stacked his hands beneath his head. His voice grew alert with caution. “I presume it has to do with Chaucer? And Mittens? Restless spirits?”

“Yes.” Kiki gave a dry chuckle at herself for asking him if his spirit was restless. It was. She could see and hear it, but not in the same way most spirits were restless here.

Not that there was a “typical” person who was drawn to taking other forms. Some wished to be horses, others preferred to be a cat—or a wolf or a lizard. They came in all different sizes and colors and classes.

There were no rules except that she, Kiki, must let them set their own rules and go along with them.
