An erotic Victorian Novelette

When New York socialite, Camellia, accompanies her industrialist husband, Powell, to the World’s Fair Exhibition in Paris, she’s eager to catch up with her old school chum, Suzette—and soon confesses how her happiness in her marriage has been fading with age.

Powell saw this trip as a chance to rekindle a marriage that has suffered under children and family. His wife’s closeness to Suzette feels threatening, especially when he learns Camellia has been spilling marital secrets!

But Suzette’s erotic suggestions provoke more than honesty between them. They try new things and soon admit they needed a hand after all.

EXCERPT

“I love you, Camellia,” he said with his whole heart. “I always have. I’m sure I always will.”

“I love you, too.”

“But?” She hadn’t said it, but it rang in his ears and drove a thorny spike into his gut.

“I worry that you couldn’t possibly love me, not when you don’t really know me.” Her gaze was imploring. Vulnerable enough to make his throat hurt. “From the moment we met, I have been trying to be good enough for you, good enough for your parents, good enough to be the mother of their grandchildren. I’ve been so careful to reveal only my best side that I’m convinced you would leave me if you knew the thoughts and feelings I have deep down.”

How tragic. They were in a far sadder state than he’d allowed himself to see.
